Reflexology Course Lincolnshire

In our accredited Reflexology course in Lincolnshire you will learn how to treat areas of the feet to create balance in the corresponding areas of the body. You will gain insight into the history of reflexology, structure of the feet and energy zones. Reflexology is an important skill for the holistic therapist.

Reflexology is the application of pressure, stretch and movement to the feet and hands to affect corresponding parts of the body. By applying technique a reflexologist can break up patterns of stress in other parts of the body. Internal organs and body structures are mirrored in the feet.

Reflexology has been practised for thousands of years. In China, it was practised as early as 4000 B.C. In Ancient Egypt, evidence of reflexology practice was found on wall paintings of the tomb of Ankmahor, an Egyptian physician, dating back to about 2330 B.C.

North America Indians have been practising a foot pressure therapy for centuries.

American physician Dr. William Fitzgerald re-discovered Reflexology. In 1917, his and Dr. Edwin Bowers’ book ‘Zone Therapy’ was published. The focus of the book was on relieving pain

The American physiotherapist Eunice Ingham became interested in ‘Zone Therapy’. She mapped the feet with the corresponding glands and organs of the body. Her research and therapy approach became the basis of modern reflexology and is called the Ingham Method.

Doreen Bailey, who was a student of Eunice Ingham, introduced Reflexology to the UK.
